Australia 2013

We set foot on Australian soil for the first time 18 years ago. At that time we traveled the east coast, the center and the north. This time it should be the West. Our journey began in Perth and took us along the coast north to Darwin. The west coast is still wild and touristic uncharted territory. My old travel guide only described Monkey Mia and Perth. Meanwhile, word got around that there is a lot to see there. However, for many of the highlights you have to take on some arduous hikes - great if you still have a heavy photo backpack to lug :-) We experienced intact, wild and beautiful nature. Fragrant eucalyptus forests, crystal clear lakes and waterfalls for swimming, snorkeling on the Ningaloo Reef, glowing red rocks with green water, bright blue sky, wild flowers in the south, stalactite caves, dolphins in Monkey Mia, wild horses and much more.

As in Africa, we were on the road again with a Toyota Hillux with a roof tent. This time we didn't have a flat tire, but a fastening screw broke on the second battery. As a result, on the washboard slopes, the lower bracket on the wheel arch almost broke through. Fortunately, the problem was fixed with 3 hours of welding in the auto repair shop before we drove onto the impassable Gibb River Road. Thanks again to the quick and smooth handling of TCC, our car rental company!

Australia left a deep impression and indelible memories on us. We will always carry the indescribable colors, smells and animal noises within us. We will also miss swimming in the lonely gorges ... I found it difficult to select images - that's why there are plenty of photos this time ;-)

Take your time to look, maybe you will also feel something of the fascination that Australia has left us with!

Yours Ute
